Although I had this whole week off from work...i know its nv going to be enough!I may wish that i have more days but i know if im given more days than what im having now,it would eventually turn boring.haha I realise I lack so much pictures that will leave evidence of the many memorable/exciting/plain boring days in my life!I need a digital camera of my own!sob sob:( And that will add on to the list of "WANTED" items right above Nokia N76!

I spend a totally cool day on TUESDAY.It was a food hunt day!
Alison,Kelly and I went to Maxwell Food Centre for lunch at ard 11plus(we r totally kiasu) when we thought they would be no crowd at all.And erm we didnt walk into the food centre because we were nearby....we woke up early(so as to reach there before the working crowd do) and we travelled all the way there. For what?To enjoy the gastronomical surprises that were enticing us for SO LONG!Ok back to what i was saying...when i thought we were really kiasu already...we actually saw queues forming at different stalls already.Of course those stalls are those really popular ones but i dont know how those working people made their way out of office before lunch hour ,those cheeky old people.Kelly and Alison had Hainanese Chicken Rice which had such a long queue I was dying(of the internal struggle inside me whether to start eating 1st) when i was waiting for them at the table after i had bought my food.haha So when they came back in what seems like an hr's time(ok that is exaggerated but i think it might have been 30 minutes long?),we just gobbled all the heavenly treats down our throats. The black pepper char siew rice i got(despite already turned cold) is really good!It is unique isnt it and i like the combi because i like my food spicy. The auntie gave a very stingy serving of char siew but im not complaining because we r saving our stomach for more gd fd!haha I bought 3 pandan pancakes and 1 cup of Horlicks Soy Milk(so cute) after that. Why didnt we have such innovative food/drinks over at MY hawker centre!?) before we moved on to Amoy Food Centre to meet Irene.Over at Amoy,we had such a "eye-opening experience".I always thought when local tv programmes depict Singaporeans as kiasu and inconsiderate people who actually "chop" seats with tissue packets,I thought it was an exaggerated version because to me it seems like an auntie-ish act and only the elderly people does it.However,I witnessed for myself how this portrayal of Singaporean is oh-so-true at Amoy Food Centre. They have tissue packets, newspaper, lanyard, small handbag placed strategically on seats giving them a foreboding presence.haha!Alison and I went to queue for Sg Kueh after waiting for some time for tissue packet-less seats and the auntie keep persuading us to get more now before 8th of August because she predicted that the queue infront of the store will be so much longer aft 8th of August, when this prog hosted by Bryan Wong features the store and recommends Singaporean to check out their store. We bought their ondeh ondeh(both normal and durian one)
and im sad to say that their ondeh ondeh tastes different(from the ones my sister got for my family)!:( Surprisingly, the durian one is so good and it easily outshines the normal ondeh ondeh.Their ondeh ondeh looks smaller and the skin is thicker now plus it has lesser filling. The one my sister got for us to try was abit bigger, with a thin skin and lots of filling(so much so that when u take a bite, the juice inside actually squirts out and that feeling is so !!!!) but it was from exactly the same store.Perhaps the fame got to their head and they just put lesser effort in their ondeh ondeh now :(
We made our way down to Bugis because we wanted to visit
Haji Lane
But Irene left us after she got her tops at Dorothy Perkins..
Perhaps not all the stores at Haji Lane were opened when we went(at ard 4pm), but we didnt a wide variety of nice threads over there.I have to admit they do have really unusual and unique pieces on sales and some are really pricey too.The thing that blow me off is how pretty all the shops are!The all have varying degrees of vintage feel and they have very creative and amazing ideas in their decoration of the shop. Its really evident the shop owners put so much thought into dressing the shophouses up,turning it from dingy to chic.I was so overwhelmed with excitement when we decided to check out this shop which looked really chic from the outside. When we are nearing the shopfront, the shiny door actually slides open with this buzzing sound. It was totally unexpected because we were just figuring whether to push the door open n there it goes, it just admits us inside as the door slides open for us.Just like the sci-fi movies when the (high shine)automated doors just slides open effortlessly! Its so mighty cool!Im sorry for the lack of descriptive terms haha.Needless to say, judging by the sliding door and the black and gold dominated shopfront,we were not surprised the shop is owned by guys and has guys' apparel for sale.I love the design of the shop so much I will make sure I have this sliding doors in my future house!
We were just slacking in town before tuition starts at 8pm for both Kelly and me.I was feeling reluctant and scared because i know it will be so boring and the kid might be naughty so i may have a hard time during the long and tedious 2 hours session. It was the first lesson with the kid yesterday so i was really expecting it to be quite bad because i have heard from friends how irritating and naughty kids can be so im just dragging myself to the house, with the thought of good money keeping me rational. To my surprise, the kid is really nice!In fact, hes not really a kid anymore since he came from China so hes 16 years old this yr.But i didnt expect myself to be teaching Physics and Geography(horrors!) instead since I was told by the agency that im SUPPOSED to be teaching English ONLY.However,it turned out that the guy needs help in Physics and Geography before his exam in October first because his english is so bad he didnt understand what the teaching was talking about during Physics and Geography lesson.I was in for a shock because both physics and geography are not my strong subjects.AT ALL.Besides,i have to explain to him terms like elements, compounds, population growth rate in Chinese and im really at a loss for words. So much so that he has to whip out his hand held translator to translate what i was explaining to him.Haha But it was okay because hes actually more like a friend so we actually laugh about how I cannot find the right Chinese term to explain what im saying and i actually learned from him that tie means Iron instead of metals generally.Metals in Chinese is jing shu and i kept saying tie which made him quite confused.haha I will be teaching him twice a wk from next week onwards but i guess it wont be such a dread anymore:D
We often forget or belittle what people had done for us and never stop asking more from them.
Supposed to meet up Jiam today before our Korean lesson but it was cancelled so im spending some precious time with my Mum and Dad today!I may try to do some baking if time allows!
